This business was born from boredom, creativity, and the thought that everything does, and should, serve a purpose, even while being intricate and inventive. Every form of artwork we have today once served a greater purpose, and we take that for granted. From the very first pages of history, this is noted.
Painting was once the only form of written communication, illustrating prehistoric times on cave walls. Today the cavemen are remembered as artists, and little more.
The science of striking hot steel with cold steel to reshape molecules once made the Blacksmith the wizard of any town or village, the universal handyman. Now forging is recognized mainly for it’s static art, to be seen but not touched.
The subtle shaping of wood was a critical component of civilization, the medium of all invention. It remains that to this day, but goes unrecognized in the shadow of alloys and plastics.
Everything has its place. Every product has its purpose. Even the mass produced, machine-made items. And to some extent, yes, there is value there. But it comes at the cost of appreciation. I choose, perhaps out of necessity, to do the majority of the work by hand. What you’ll find here is the fruits of my labors.
